Cooperation agreement was signed between the University of Isfahan and Shanghai International Studies University by the presidents of both universities.

According to the Public Relations of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, a high-level delegation from Shanghai International Studies University in their visit to Iran with the contribution of Academic Cooperation Development Center of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization attended the University of Isfahan and met with Houshang Talebi, the president of this university.

In this meeting, emphasizing on the development of cooperation between the two universities, Talebi stated: "Shanghai University as a humanities university can cooperate effectively with the University of Isfahan whose 50 percent of its courses are humanities".

Referring to the volume of trading between Iran and China, the president of the University of Isfahan emphasized on the development of Persian and Chinese languages in the universities of both countries and expressed hope that the meeting would have positive and effective results in the furtherance of the objectives of the two universities.

He also referred to the presence of Sun Xiaobing, the Director of Policy and Regulation Department of the Ministry of Education of China in the University of Isfahan on November 21 and stated: "Interaction between the University of Isfahan and Chinese universities and academic centers is confirmed by this university and good cooperation agreements have been signed in this regard".

Referring to the ancient and brilliant civilization of Iran, Jiang Feng, the Chairman of the University Council of Shanghai International Studies University emphasized on the development of cooperation between the two universities in the field of launching Iranian and Chinese Studies, cooperation in humanities courses and teaching Chinese and Persian languages.

In this meeting, the authorities of the University of Isfahan and Shanghai University emphasized on the development of academic relations, the enforcement of cooperation in the field of teaching Persian and Chinese languages, Iranology, Chinese Studies and Middle East Studies.

According to the cooperation agreement signed between the two universities, it was decided that joint courses of Iranology and Chinese Studies and Persian Language Chair, and Chinese Language Chair be launched in the near future in the two universities, in which political and economic relations of the Middle East and Asia be also discussed.    

In addition, in this cooperation agreement the participation of evaluation of the University of Isfahan journals was agreed in the evaluation system of Shanghai University focusing on the humanities courses.

Other cases emphasized in the cooperation agreement included providing Chinese professors in the University of Isfahan as well as providing Persian professors in Shanghai University and it was decided the two universities cooperate with each other for exchanging Chinese language teaching volunteers from China and Persian teaching volunteers from Iran.

Familiarity with Shanghai International Studies University (SISU)

Shanghai International Studies University is one of the largest universities and one of top eight foreign studies universities in China in which most foreign languages are taught. Given that Shanghai is considered one of the active economic poles in China in which the most foreign economic relations are going on, the presence of this university is of great importance.
