The students of Imam Hossein University attended the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization on Monday, April 10 and met with Dr. Abouzar Ebrahimi Torkaman, the head of the Organization.
According to the Public Relations of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, in this meeting emphasizing on the point that the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization was established to integrate the cultural activities abroad, Dr. Ebrahimi Torkaman stated: "The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization was established on 1995 as the public diplomacy center of the Islamic Republic of Iran to introduce a clear picture of the Iranian-Islamic culture and civilization to the world".
The head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization added: "Having 85 cultural representative offices in 63 countries, and taking advantage of the organizational knowledge and the power of scholars and experts, this organization, in the form of various activities, attempts to make its audience become familiar with some part of the seven thousand years old civilization of this country and the achievements of the Islamic Revolution of Iran".
Emphasizing on the need to introduce the benevolent face of Islam as well as the capabilities and academic and cultural developments of Iran outside the country, the member of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution said: "Implementing cultural programs, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization introduces the tourist attractions of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the world".
In his speech, Dr. Ebrahimi Torkaman outlined some other programs conducted by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization as follows: the establishment of the Iranian chamber, the holding of different academic and educational courses in the form of refresher courses inside and outside the country, providing sabbaticals and the launch of professional libraries, sending Iranian artists and arts groups and religious missionary teams to other countries.
He also stated: "Other programs which are explained and implemented by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization include the exchange of academic delegations, the holding of cultural weeks, film weeks, creating interaction among educated Muslim women in the world, creating solidarity among Muslim female scholars of the Islamic world, planning for Iranian cultural affairs, communicating with experts and scholars and signing cooperation agreement".
Referring to the activities conducted by the International Center for Interreligious Dialogue of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the member of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution stated: "Religious dialogue among divine religions about the challenges and problems of humans can end many of human sufferings in the society; this organization has held many religious meetings between Muslim scholars and the scholars of other religions".
Dr. Ebrahimi Torkaman added: "So far several books with various topics of culture and art, religion and social sciences have been translated into different languages by the Center for Organizing Translation and Publication of Islamic Sciences and Humanities and have been published outside the country. This center attempts to detect the needs of the audiences in different countries and meet their needs through directing and leading the translation of premier works and promoting the quality of translation of these works".
At the end of his speech Dr. Ebrahimi Torkaman noted: "The most important mission of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization is to manage and lead international cultural relations and policy-making, creating coordination, guidance, support and supervision of the cultural and promotional activities of the Islamic Republic of Iran abroad in order to achieve the objectives of Iran in these relations".
At the end of the meeting the students expressed their views about the cultural programs of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and then a video clip was shown on the activities of the organization outside the country.
