The Exhibition of Iranian Cultural Products and Books Was Opened in Kabul

The exhibition of cultural and art products and books of the Islamic Republic of Iran was opened in Kabul with the presence of the Chief Executive of Afghanistan, the deputy of the Research and Training Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, and the authorities of both countries.

According to the Public Relations of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the big exhibition of cultural and art products and books of the Islamic Republic of Iran was opened in Kabul on Wednesday, April 12 with the presence of educators, poets, national figures, officials and the authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Afghanistan.

The opening ceremony began by reciting some verses of the holy Quran and playing the national anthems of both countries and was continued by the speech of Reza Maleki, the Iranian cultural attaché in Kabul.

Providing a report on the processes of the establishment of the exhibition, the Iranian cultural attaché pointed out the early stages of determining the place of exhibition and coordinating with the official institutions of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan such as the Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture, the Afghan Ministry of Education, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Afghan security forces.

Maleki continued: "The exhibition was established by covering a total area of over 2,500 square meters, including 110 booths and an area of about 400 square meters for exhibition auditorium. In this exhibition, 60 publishers from the Islamic Republic of Iran and 30 publishers from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan will introduce their books and cultural products".

He added: "In this exhibition more than 300 Iranian and Afghan artistic works will be exhibited in public in several booths. In addition, 31 thousand books in 300 thousand copies will be introduced".

Referring to the donation of 100 thousand books to Afghan schools by Kanoon Farhangi Amoozesh Ghalamchi, Maleki stated: "In addition, on the sidelines of the exhibition several cultural side programs have been considered for the residents of Kabul, including performance of Iranian traditional music, theater for children and teenagers, the workshops of calligraphy, painting, poetry and story and Quranic programs and tawashih".

Then, Ghahraman Soleimani, the deputy of the Research and Training Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, delivered a speech and said: "The publishers participating in this exhibition will introduce their most recent works. The development of countries has a direct relationship with book and book reading and a society where people read books is less affected by the induction and culture of aliens".

Referring to manufacturing index for book and reading book as a significant indicator in the development of nations, Ghahraman Soleimani stated that the publication of book entitled Afghan Society and Culture by the International Cultural Studies Center and the Deputy of Education and Research in the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization is an important work for the development of the Iranian peoples understanding about Afghan society.

In this opening ceremony, referring to deep-rooted and old ties between the two nations, Sancharaki, the Deputy of Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture emphasized on the development of cultural relations between the two countries.

In the opening ceremony Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive of Afghanistan, also delivered a speech and stated: "The Iranian Book Fair is the largest book fair in recent years in Kabul and this is an opportunity to give more attention to book publishing in Afghanistan".

He added: "Afghanistan has a long history in publishing, but it was not active in the past few years and has recently become reactivated and this exhibition provides an opportunity for Afghan and Iranian publishers to exchange their ideas".

In this opening ceremony a memorial tablet was given to the Iranian cultural attaché by Afghan Cycling Federation for valuable activities of the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul in the establishment of this exhibition.

In addition, traditional music band called "Raz", which was sent to Kabul by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, performed traditional music that received special attention by the audience.
