The deputy of the Research and Training Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization:

Persian Language Has a Special Place in Bosnia

In meeting with the rectors of universities in Bosnia, Ghahraman Soleimani stated: "In recent centuries, Persian language and literature have had a special place in Bosnia and Herzegovina".

According to the Public Relations of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Dr. Dževad Zečić, Rector of the University of Zenica, Dr. Sead Pašić, the Rector of University Džemal Bijedić of Mostar, Ljerka Ostojić, the Rector of University of Mostar, Nermina Hadzigrahic, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tuzla, Enver Halilović, the Director of Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who have traveled to Iran (Monday, April 24) at the invitation of the Academic Cooperation Development Center of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sarajevo, attended the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and met with Ghahraman Soleimani, the deputy of the Research and Training Department of the Organization.

In this meeting, referring to kinship ties between Iran and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ghahraman Soleimani stated: "The fate of Bosnians has always been important to us. There is a close feeling and historical ties between Iran and the Balkans, and among the countries in this area Bosnia is more important to us".

The deputy of the Research and Training Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization added: "In addition to the religious and historical ties between the two countries, Persian language and literature have been of very high importance during recent centuries in Bosnia and Herzegovina that this important issue has led to a special place for this sweet language in this country".

Ghahraman Soleimani continued: "As Bosnian art lovers and literati are very much interested in Iran and the culture of this Islamic country, the level of cooperation should be increased as both countries have a desire to communicate friendly".

Referring to the growth of science production in Iran among the top countries that produce science, Ghahraman Soleimani stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran after the Islamic Revolution could rank sixth in the world in nanoscience and also in the fields of medicine and engineering could rank high among other countries".

Referring to the importance of developing cultural relations between Iran and other countries especially Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ghahraman Soleimani stated: "Iran is the safest developed country in the Middle East, however, not only it has been economically sanctioned, but also it has been boycotted by the media. The performance of Western media to reflect the Islamic awakening in the region shows that how different was their news coverage of the facts in the region with what happened in practice".

Ghahraman Soleimani emphasized: "Western media try to represent reality, distort its nature and create a virtual reality and an imaginary space from the developments in the region within the framework of Western discourse by looking differently the reality and by using media techniques and tactics and reflect a distorted picture of the Islamic Iran".

Emphasizing on the need to develop academic cooperation between the two countries, the deputy of the Research and Training Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization stated: "We are always ready to provide the grounds for teaching Persian language, award scholarships and establish an institute specific for training Persian language in Bosnia and Herzegovina".

At the end of his speech, Ghahraman Soleimani pointed out some ways for further cooperation, including granting sabbaticals, sending professors, and support from academic departments outside the country, the exchange of cultural delegations, holding refresher courses specific for professors, researchers, and foreign students at PhD degrees.     

Following the meeting, expressing satisfaction for visiting Iran and the hospitality of Iranians, Dr. Sead Pašić, the Rector of University Džemal Bijedić of Mostar stated: "Visiting Iran and the academic centers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and talking with the Iranian professors and researchers to become familiar with academic achievements of this country can be effective for the development of relations between the two countries".  

Referring to the different reflection of realities in the Islamic Republic of Iran by Western media, he said: "In our first presence in the Islamic Republic of Iran we became familiar closely with the Islamic Iran and the level of science and technology in this country".

In this meeting, each member of this Bosnian academic delegation emphasized not only on the need to develop cultural relations between the two countries, but also on many common capacities between Iran and Bosnia.
