Seventh round of Iran- South Korean religious dialogue begins in Tehran

Seventh round of Iran- South Korean religious dialogue attended by Muslim, Catholic Christian and Buddhist scholars called "Religion and Environment" started on Wednesday Dec. 4 in Tehran.

According to Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), from Iranian side, the Center for Religious and Cultural Dialogues of ICRO and Korean Conference of Religions for Peace, are taking part in the Religion and Environment Dialogue, currently underway in Islamic Culture and Relation Organization in Tehran.

Hojjatoleslam Taskhiri, chairman of the Center for Religious and Cultural Dialogues in his opening remarks said we have previously held similar talks with Russians, Greeks, Lebanese and Austrians.

Korean Conference of Religion for Peace is a branch of Asian Conference of Religions for Peace (ACRP). The idea for establishing Asian Conference for Peace was brought up in 1974 in Belgium during the Second Global Conference of Religion and Peace.

Asian Conference of Religions for Peace has 16 members as follows: Austria, New Zealand, Bangladesh, China, North Korea, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Japan, South Korea, Nepal, Pakistan, The Philippines, Singapore,   Seri Lanka, Thailand, Colombia and its first meeting took place in 1976 with participation of 4oo scholars from 17 countries representing 10 different religions in Singapore.

The Idea behind establishment of this conference was to promote peace and justice and human dignity among followers of Asian religions.
