Iranian Ambassador and Cultural Attaché attend Tijaniyyah Tariqa Conference in Nigeria

Iranian Ambassador to Nigeria,Morteza Rahimi Zarchi and Cultural Attaché, Seyyed Mahmud Azimi Nasrabadi attended the International Conference of Tijaniyyah tariqa in Abuja, capital of Nigeria.

According to Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the conference attended by political and religious personalities, ambassadors of several countries was held atthe Abuja"s Central Mosque.

Educational shortages both hardware and software and making use of experience of other countries including Islamic Republic of Iran were the main topics of speeches and discussions.

On the sideline of the conference, Iranian Cultural Attaché to Nigeria met the Head of Students Association of Tijaniyyah Tariqa and discussed ways of technical cooperation and using experience of Iran for advancing education of Nigerian Muslims.

The Tijāniyyah is a sufi tariqa (order, path) within Sunni Islam, originating in North Africa but now more widespread in West Africa, particularly in Senegal, The Gambia, Mauritania, Mali, Guinea, Niger, Chad, Ghana, Northern and South-western Nigeria and some part of Sudan. The Tariqa order is also present in the state of Kerala in India. Its adherents are called Tijānī. Tijānī places great importance on culture and education.
