First round of Iran- Japan Interreligious Dialogue



Ebrahimi Turkman: Religious dialogue is a prelude to global peace

Head of Islamic culture and Relations Organization in his inaugural speech at the first round of Iran-Japan Interreligious Dialogue in Tokyo said religious and cultural talks pave the way for establishment of global peace, security and tranquility for international community.

 According to the Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Mr. Abuzar Ebrahimi Turkman said holding of this gathering is very important to bring better knowledge and understanding of Iranian and Japanese people from each other and by referring to common culture, expressed his pleasure for visiting the great country of Japan to attend the first round of interreligious dialogue between the two nations.

He thanked those who have worked for arranging the gathering including people in charge of Ise Temple, Chancellor, professors and other officials of Kogakkan University, Iranian Embassy and Cultural Mission officials.

Mr. Turkman then referring to history of cultural relations between Tehran and Japan, signing of cultural agreement and establishment of Iranian cultural mission in Tokyo said glory and attractions of Iranian history and civilization for culture loving nation of Japan and great respect attached by Iranian people to great nation of Japan are important and influential elements for expansion of cultural ties and interactions between Iran and Japan.

 He then talked about large number of Japanese Iranologists and Iranians who are well known for their studies about Japan and receiving honorary medallion from Japanese Emperor by some of them said by implementation of cultural and religious programs between the two countries including this dialogue, the ground will be prepared for better understanding of Japanese and Iranian people from each other especially because there are lots of ethical, traditional and cultural commonalities between them which will contribute to expansion of bilateral relations.

The Head of Islamic culture and Relations Organization said religious and cultural talks pave the way for establishment of global peace, security and tranquility for international community and briefed his audience about Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and its affiliated institution the Center for Interreligious and intercultural Dialogue. He added that the said center is in touch with many universities and organizations engaged in interreligious and Cultural dialogue.

Mr. Turkman said this center has so far held more than 100 seminars and conferences with Catholic Christianity at Vatican, Orthodox Church of Russia, Sicily Church of Greece, Thai Buddhism, Hinduism and Christianity in the Philippine.  

 He ended his speech by wishing that the ongoing gathering to result in establishment of a society between Iran and Japan for religious dialogue to be hosted by Islamic Culture and Relations organization"s Center for Religious and Cultural dialogues.
