Ebrahimi Turkman in meeting German Scholars:

Interreligious dialogue would lead to common understanding/ethics and spirituality

Head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization in a meeting with a group of German scholars said interreligious talks will pave the way to reach at common

Points adding that if today we wish to have peaceful coexistence in human community we should promote a rationality which is based on ethics and spirituality.

According to Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), German universities" professor of Islamic Studies, Thomas Wurtz , Researcher and person in charge of religious dialogues at the Academy of the Archbishop of Stuttgart and scholar of religion Rainer Ochelson on Tuesday March 5 met Mr. Ebrahimi Turkman at his organization"s Headquarters in downtown Tehran.

Mr. Turkman in his talks with German academics, while expressing his pleasure for expansion of cultural relations between Iran and Germany called for further bilateral cooperation especially on interreligious dialogue.

  He briefed his German guests about extensive talks between Iranian religious representatives and their counterparts from Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and other divine and worldly religions and sects and said such dialogues have been very useful for us.

Abuzar Ebrahimi Turkman said the objective behind interreligious dialogue is not to prove the truth and credentials of one particular religion but the real goal is to reach at common points.

He said by returning to wisdom and spirituality, one can dust off his/her soul from  negligence and flourish the idea of love towards others as  an ideal characteristic adding that by holding interreligious dialogue with followers of other religions we are pursuing peace and peaceful coexistence .

Thomas Wurtz, scholar of Islamic studies from Zurich University speaking in the same meeting said our aim is to promote moral and spiritual values in our own societies and neighboring communities.

He said technology has its own advantages and we should use technology to achieve our objectives which is morality and spirituality.

The German Scholar said dialogue brings about peace and refraining from dialogue will not result in settlement of disputes adding that bilateral cultural cooperation will contribute to fundamental interreligious dialogue.
