Ashura Mourning Ceremony in Athens

Mourning ceremony on the sad occasion of martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his devoted companions was held by the Iranian Cultural House in Greek.

According to Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), a number of Iranian students, Iranian Ambassador and embassy staff and their family members attended the mourning ceremony at the Persian Gulf Hall of the Iranian Cultural Mission to Greece.

Iranian Cultural Attaché to Athens, Ali Mohammad Helmi talking about the philosophy of Ashura said this everlasting historical event is a source of inspiration for not only justice seeking Islamic Ummah but the whole world community adding that the uprising of Imam Hussein due to its pure nature and epical importance has lasted for more than 1000 years not losing its temperament but rather spread all over the world.  

 Ayatollah Mobaleghi, from Experts Assembly, attending the gathering talked about the importance and greatness of Ashura and the uprising by Imam Hussein (AS) and his loyal companions and said this historic event should be studied from sociological perspective because by such study some hidden aspects of Ashura will be discovered.

 A separate mourning ceremony is also underway in another part of Athens attend by Iranian, Pakistani and Afghan Shiites.
