The commemoration ceremony of Hafez was held last week on birthday anniversary of this world renowned Iranian poet on Oct. 14 in Turkish city of Istanbul.

According to Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the commemoration ceremony held at the Istanbul University was organized through the joint efforts of Iranian Cultural Mission in Istanbul and Saadi Foundation and attended the Head of the Foreign Languages Department of the said university, Iranian Cultural Attaché and a group of Persian language professors and students of the Faculty of Literature.

Iranian Cultural Attaché to Turkey, Koroosh Moghtaderi talked about activities of his mission in Istanbul on various cultural, scientific, educational and religious areas and then elaborated on the role and position of Hafez in Persian and world literature.

The Head of Persian Language and Literature Department of Istanbul University, Ali Guzal Yuz talked about keen interest of Turkish People in poems by Hafie said several Turkish scholars have written books about poems by this great Iranian poet.

 He said the book known as Sharh Soudi about poems of Hafez is one the best interpretation in Turkish language about poems of Hafiz and this book as a great reference source on Hafez has been translated into persian. He said other Turkish interpreters have looked at poems of Hafiz from mystic perspective.

The reason behind fame of Hafiz and his impact on World literature

An Iranian guest professor at Istanbul University, Davoud Sparham talking about the reason behind immortality of Hafez said his vision about esthetic and the world vision are the main cause of his several century old fame.

  Two Turkish professors of the Persian language at the Faculty of Persian Language and Literature Department of Istanbul University also talked about characteristics of Hafez poems and students of the said department read some poems from Divan of Hafez.
