Iranian Ambassador and Cultural Attaché to Yerevan meet Iranian Iranologists

The role of Armenian Iranologists play in introducing Iranian Culture to Armenian People was discussed

In a cordial meeting between Iranian Ambassador, Mr. Zohori and Cultural Attaché Seyyed Mohammad Reza Heidari to Yerevan, with Armenian Iranologists, the role Played by Armenian professors in introducing Iranian Culture to their fellow countrymen were commended.

According to Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the Dean of Students of Faculty of Oriental Studies along with the Head of the Iranology Department of the said faculty had a cordial meeting with Iranian Ambassador, a group of embassy staff and Iranian Cultural Attaché to Armenian capital Yerevan.

Iranian Ambassador in his opening remarks while welcoming the Armenian Academics, underline the importance of the role played of the Iranologists in introducing Iran and it aspirations and potentials to Armenian people and called for further cooperation between the Iranology Department of Yerevan State Oriental Studies University and Iranian Embassy.

Mr. Zohori also emphasized the importance of reviewing the cultural relations of the two countries and removal of possible hindrances in promotion of such relations.

Then the Chancellor of the Armenian Faculty of Oriental Studies for his part  and greeted the visiting Iranian delegation and introducing a number of the faculty members said the  faculty is 50 years old academic establishment and talked about the importance of the views of professors of this faculty not only for scientific centers but also Armenian state officials.

He said the faculty has 3 departments of Iranology, Turk and Arab studies department. The high ranking Armenian academic said each room in this faculty in named after renowned personalities and one room is named Iranian epic poet Ferdowsi and called the assistance of Iranian Ambassador for renovation of this hall.

The Head of Iranology Department of the Faculty of Oriental Studies thanked Iranian Cultural Attaché to Yerevan for his support and assistance to the said Department and commenting on the prospect of expansion of Tehran- Yerevan cultural relations said that unfortunately planning in both countries and in Armenia in Particular are short term and such characteristic is not an appropriate policy for achieving long term results.  

He added that while political issues has not profound effect on cultural relations but complained about the role of the social media that some time spread baseless materials and harm the atmosphere of cultural relations.

 Professor Voskanian said we attach great importance for expansion of bilateral academic relations special the ties Between Tabriz and Yerevan university needs to be promoted.

Other Armenian academics also talked about different aspects of Tehran- Yerevan cultural and academic relations and called for expansion of cultural ties between the two countries.
