With great regret and sorrow, I received the sad news of the passing away of the divine scholar, the prominent figure and serving soul of the Shiite Maulana Kalb Sadegh Naqavi, may God have mercy on him. This unfortunate event is a great and irreparable loss for the Shiite community, especially the devotees and his students and the youth who have benefited from the scientific services and sincere efforts of this highly revered Muslim scholar who devoted his life to promote the high and rational knowledge of Islam.

His name will surely continue to shine in the future, as the precious legacy that he and other Shiite great personalities have left behind in India will be an illuminating beacon for the shining Islam and the lofty teachings of the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) in thid ancient and great land.

I offer my sincere condolences to the Muslim community of India, his honorable household, especially his dear brother Maulana Kalb Javad and other survivors of this honorable house, and I ask God Almighty for the exaltation of the soul of the deceased.

Biography of "Sadegh Naghavi Club"

Dr. Kaleb Sadegh Naghavi was born on January 1, 1939 in Lucknow, in one of the most famous religious families in India. His father, Maulana Sayyid Kalb Hussain, and his grandfather, Sayyid Agha Hassan, were well-known and distinguished religious scholars in India. Kaleb Sadegh received his primary education from his father and soon after entered the Seminary of Nazemieh and gained knowledge from professors such as Maulana Seyyed Mohammad Sadegh, Maulana Seyyed Rasoeol Ahmad and others. He obtained the degrees of "Mumtaz Alafazl" from Nazmieh Seminary and "Sadr al-Afadhil" from the Sultan al-Madares Seminary. Then he entered the Islamic University of Aligarh and secured a doctorate in Arabic language and literature.

After completing his education, he engaged in religious services. When famous Indian preachers and speakers were lecturing on the pulpits, he too went to the pulpit and soon became one of India"s most famous preachers. What distinguishes him from other preachers was his knowledge about new sciences and familiarity with contemporary sciences. His scientific qualities and religious knowledge led him to be invited to travel to different countries of the world.

After the death of his older brother, Maulana Sayyed Kalb Abed, Kalb Sadegh became the Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Personal Law Board of Indian Muslims in 1986. He was one of the political and social activists of the Shiites community of India and played a significant role in various areas such as taking care of Shiite endowments, organizing the Shiite affairs of Lucknow and other Shiite affairs.
