The Academy of Sciences of Afghan donated 1,800 volumes of books and magazines about Afghanistan for use in the Afghan Studies Room at the National Library of Iran.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (IRCR), Gholam Hossein Shirzarad Moghaddam, Iran"s Cultural Attache in Kabul, met with Abdul Zaher Shakib, the head of the Afghan Academy of Sciences, and discussed art and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting, 1800 volumes of books and magazines about Afghanistan were handed over to Iranian top cultural envoy in Kabul to be handed over to head of the Documentation Center and National Library of Iran, Ms. Ashraf Boroujerdi, in order to create an Afghan Studies Room in the said library.
Aminian, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Afghanistan, along with Gholamhossein Shirzad Moghaddam, also in a meeting with Minister of Higher Education of Afghanistan and the President of Kabul University, Abbas Basir, discussed the issues related to the agreement to establish a Dari Persian language and literature department and a Persian language and literature research center.
Shirzad Moghaddam expressed the strategies for cooperation in the implementation of this cultural project and said this project includes the research section (Persian language research center), amphitheater hall, reception hall, management office, 24 classrooms, permanent book exhibition, meeting hall and other required facilities.
Abbas Basir, Minister of Higher Education, in a short speech, while thanking the support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said he will take care of the project.
The Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan emphasized on removing the obstacles for the implementation of the project and said we are ready to start the construction and completion of this university department as soon as the obstacles are removed.
