Iranian Cultural Attaché to Mumbai sends a message of condolences, following the demise of the leader of India"s Shiite community
Iranian Cultural Attaché to the Indian city of Mumbai, Mohsen Ashouri, sent a message of condolences following the death of Dr. Kalb Sadegh Naqavi, a prominent scholar and leader of Indian Shiites community.
According to the Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Iranian Cultural Attaché in Mumbai, Mohsen Ashouri, sent a message of condolences following the death of Kalb Sadegh Naqavi, the high-ranking scholar and leader of the Indian Shiite community. He was one of the most important and influential figures in creating unity and friendship among followers of different religions in India and played a key role in establishing and developing good relations between Muslims and non-Muslims communities in the country.
The Iranian Culture House in Mumbai, in a statement condoled the demise of this divine scholar to all members of Indian society, especially the esteemed clergies, seminaries, schools and academics, Muslims of India.
The sage of the Ummah, Dr. Kaleb Sadegh Naqavi, was a supporter of the Islamic Revolution of Iran from the early days and one of the great devotees of Imam Khomeini (RH) and was very enthusiastic about his eminence, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Kahmenei and even had a meeting with him. He actively participated in many meetings and conferences held in Iran.
The late Sadegh Naghavi Kalb, was respected among India"s elites, scholars and intellectuals, and emphasized the education of India"s Muslim minority, as the only key to their progress, and in built many schools and even a medical school in his home town, Lucknow. In addition, he sponsored thousands of poor students in Indian society. On April 18, 1984, he founded the Muslim Unity Association to provide financial support to underprivileged students.
The late chairman of the Muslim Civil Rights Organization of India known as All India Personal Law Board, worked compassionately to eradicate differences among Muslims.
In the past week, several ministers of the Indian central government, including the ministers of Defense and Minority Affairs, visited the late Naqavi in hospital where he is being treated.
According to the will of the deceased, the representative of the Supreme Leader in India prayed for his body and was buried in Lucknow Cemetery.
The funeral was attended by a large crowd in Lucknow residents and the funeral ceremony was aired live on the Indian TV networks. The ceremony took place amid widespread restrictions impose by the government, aimed at preventing the spread of the Coronavirus.
