New Mufti of Istanbul called for religious and Quranic cooperation between Iran and Turkey

 The New Mufti of Istanbul, Mehmet Amin Mashali in meeting with Iranian Cultural Attaché and Consul General, called for expansion of Quranic and religious cooperation with Iran.

According to Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Iranian Consul General, Bakhtiar Asadzadeh and Cultural Attaché, Koroosh Moghtaderi visited Mufti Mashali at his Headquarters and discussed cooperation between Iran and Turkey especially in religious and Quranic affairs.

 The New Mufti of Istanbul said Iran is an ancient country with rich civilization adding that he first visited Iran in 1986 as representative of Turkey at the International Quranic Competitions in Tehran and in following years as judge of the same competition.

 He added that in the past, Persian language was our literary and state apparatus language adding that there are many Persian words in Turkish language and large number of books on Islamic civilization are written in Persian language.

Iranian Consul General to Istanbul said Iran and Turkey as two Islamic and neighboring countries have many things in common both culturally and religion wise and called for further improvement of relations in these areas between Tehran and Ankara.

 Iranian Cultural Attaché, for his part called for closer ties between the two nations and said for boosting religious and Quranic relations, scholars of two countries should come together and discuss areas of cooperation.
