Iranian Cultural Attaché to Jakarta meets Chancellor of an Indonesian University

Iranian Cultural Attaché to Jakarta, Mehran Rakshanda in a meeting with Chancellor of Al-Azhar University of Indonesia, Mr. Seifeddin, exchanged views about academic and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

According to Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), Iranian Cultural Attaché expressed pleasure for the opportunity to meet and hold talks with Chancellor of Indonesian Al- Azhar University about issues of mutual interest and said universities play an important role in progress of nations and for this reason during the past 40 years since glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iranian government has paid considerable attention to country"s universities and today we are witness to numerous achievements.

 Rakshanda talked about various areas for bilateral academic cooperation between Islamic Republic of Iran and Indonesia, including offering study opportunities, introducing international seminars and participation of professors at such academic gatherings, holding joint conferences, holding short term education courses, screening of films, organizing art and cultural exhibitions at university campus and other relevant cultural events.

The Chancellor of Indonesian Al- Azhar University for his part said Iran is not unknown to me and I have been informed about progress made by your country and hope to have chance to visit the country.

 Mr. Seifeddin added that undoubtedly we welcome cooperation with Iranian academic centers. He went on saying that getting familiar of Indonesian students and academic with Iran will be an opportunity to get acquainted with Islamic and oriental culture adding that he will try to use the offer of cooperation by Iranian side to promote bilateral scientific and cultural ties.

 The Indonesian Al- Azhar University is a non-governmental academic center established in Aug. 2000 and currently has 6 faculties with 16 different courses. The University is located adjacent to Al- Azhar Mosque at the southern edge of Jakarta and accepts students from all nationalities, races and religions.
