Final Communiqué of the Baku international religious gathering calls for respect to religious pluralism and fight against terrorism

Participants to the Baku International Religious Conference by releasing their final statement emphasized the need to respect religious pluralism and campaign against terrorism.

According to Public Relations Department of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the 2nd Baku International Conference of World Religious Leaders, came to end on November 15 by releasing its final communiqué.

Nearly 500 religious dignitaries from across the world, in their final statement called the United Nations and other international and regional organizations to work for closer cooperation among various civilizations and take measures to combat terrorism and other anti human acts.

The statement says act against one religion is in fact an act against all other religions and calls international organizations to prevent terrorists from using sacred valued of religions to achieve their despicable objectives.

They have also called further cooperation within the international community to counter publicity of ideologies that preach religious and racial violence and pay more attention to problems of refugees and migrants.

Supporting efforts of the UN aimed at promoting global dialogue and preventing violence at religious sites including the holy Quds, respecting UN Charter and international norms, settling conflicts in areas such as Armenia and Azerbaijan were among issues reflected at the final statement.

The 2nd International Conference of Officials in Charge of Religious Affairs, was opened in Baku the capital of Republic of Azerbaijan on Nov. 14 attended by delegates from 70 countries including Islamic Republic of Iran.

More than 500 religious scholars, thinkers and statesmen of numerous countries including the Iranian delegation headed by Chairman of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Mr. Abuzar Ebrahimi Turkaman took part in the 2-days event.
