This Center was established in 1984 as the Center for Experimental and Semi-Professional Cinema. In the early 90s, assumed the name “Documentary and Experimental Film Center”. In 1401, the animation department was officially added to the center and its name was changed to “Documentary, Experimental, and Animation Film Center (DEFC)”. This center is vested with the very important responsibility of producing documentary works and short artistic animations and produces more than 70 documentaries and 30 animations every year. Iran International Documentary Film Festival “Cinema Verite” is organized by this center. This festival, which has been held seventeen times, is one of the most important festivals of the Asian continent in the field of documentaries. 9
