Qatar 2022 opening ceremony held in Al Bayt
The opening ceremoney of the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup was held in Doha's AL Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, 50 kilometers outside Doha Sunday evening.
Qatar will play Ecuador at the 2022 World Cup opener at the 60,000-capacity stadium.
Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, addressed the crowd as part of the opening ceremony, which featured video segments depicting the history of Qatar and live narration from the U.S. actor Morgan Freeman, music from global superstar BTS singer Jung Kook and appearances from mascots past and present.
Iran football team will start the campaign on Monday with a match against England in Group B on Monday.
