Report on the Commemoration of Iran Film Day

On Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (corresponding to Ordibehesht 9, 1405 in the Iranian calendar), Iran Film Day was commemorated at the Cultural Office of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic with the screening of the feature film The Sniper. The selection of this film was made in honor of the bravery and sacrifices of the combat forces of the Islamic Republic in the face of the aggression by the United States and Israel against our country.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Ali Kebriaezadeh, in explaining the resilience and steadfastness of the Iranian people against foreign aggression, stated that history bears witness that Iranians have never surrendered to external invasions. He noted that their resistance throughout different periods—including the imposed war of Iraq against Iran, which he described as being instigated by the United States, and particularly during the Ramadan War when the Islamic Republic faced aggression from the United States and Israel—has become an unparalleled model for the world.

The Cultural Counselor described the attacks by the United States and Israel on Minab school, hospitals, and residential homes as signs of their inability to confront the Iranian nation. He added that The Sniper is based on the true story of a brave and courageous Iranian fighter, portraying a powerful and authentic image of resistance, patriotism, faith-centeredness, and self-sacrifice. He emphasized that such scenes were frequent during the Ramadan War and were among the key factors leading to the defeat of the United States and Israel against Iran.

He further stated that watching The Sniper enables audiences to gain a clearer understanding of the realities of Iran and the spirit of the Iranian people in the face of foreign powers and aggressors.

It is noteworthy that the film was well received by various segments of the public, particularly at a time when the general atmosphere in Sri Lanka views Iran as the victor of the Ramadan War and as an influential power on the global stage.
