The cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Zimbabwe on April 25, 2024, initiated a development collaboration with the Women Writers Support Network on an IRAN-AFRICA, women’s writers cultural exchange competition.
The zeal to promote, preserve, and enrich cultural heritage between Zimbabwe and Iran has amplified the need for cultural exchange in all facets of socio-economic development. This long-awaited collaboration between the Cultural Centre of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Women Writers Support Network, would bind development relations and lead to a new era where new cultural heritage through scripts would define the future direction of Zimbabwe-Iran cultural relations.
The joined collaboration will unveil the hidden talents and stories of women in Iran and Zimbabwe, as the Cultural Counsellor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Hamid Bakhtiyar, noted in the main agenda, while the Women Writers Support Network, director Ms. Sympathy Mangwenya, and coordinator Mr. Thabani Mlilo shared more light on women's empowerment through writing experiences, revealing their own stories as perspectives on gender and development.
The meeting marked the chronometer’s initials of the timeline as the project was set to be launched a few weeks prior to the tireless preparation to be met by both institutions for the sustainability of the IRAN-AFRICA, women’s writers cultural exchange competition, while the dates are to be finalized in accordance with the pace of the preparations.
Mr. Hamid Bakhtiyar, noted that the drive to have relations underpinned by cultural exchange through writers is underwritten by the fact that Iran is a heart in literature, poetry, and art because its birth mark is the cradle of civilization and Zimbabwe stands to advance more in this field. He said Iran’s literature, arts, and culture are so rich that Zimbabwe will benefit from Iran’s expertise in this field.
