14 November 2025 A seminar on a Muti Dimensional lens on the Zionist Aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran opened at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare, Zimbabwe, Friday 14 November 2025 in the presence of the Ambassador of Iran to Zimbabwe, Dr. Amir Hossein Hosseini, Iran ‘top cultural diplomat in Zimbabwe, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar, the Dean of Arts and Humanities at the University of Zimbabwe, Prof Fainos Mangena, the chairperson of the department of Philosophy, Religion and Classics at the University of Zimbabwe, Dr Agness Chiwara, academics from various universities and pastoral training colleges, religious leaders from the Abrahamic faith based organisations and the African traditional religion as well as students from the university.

The seminar was jointly organised by the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities through the department of Philosophy, Religion and Classics of the University of Zimbabwe.

In his keynote speech, Iran's ambassador, Dr Hosseini recalled the unprovoked and deliberate heinous airstrikes on Iran that that targeted residential compartments, protected nuclear sites, hospitals and other facilities that caused significant damage and fatalities. He said all these strikes were not condemned by the international community despite the actions being against international laws.

Mr. Hamid Bakhtiyar declared that Israeli aggression against Iran represents a threat to global peace and justice. These attacks targeted not only Iran's independence, but also her cultural identity, values and dignity.

He said the attacks were a part of a wider effort to suppress independent voices and the intellectual heritage of production.

He noted that the collaboration with the University of Zimbabwe illustrates that academic dialogue is a form of resistance and peace building meant to promote justice, mutual respect and cultural solidarity against oppression and misinformation.

He also noted that the Palestinian Israel conflict has been a longstanding point of contention which must not be allowed to continue unabated for the sake of peace, justice and development.

Prof Mangena said the academic discourse being pursued through such dialogue forums should yield a just and equitable global society.

The seminar also heard thought provoking presentations from academics and religious luminaries which were meant to influence and change the world dynamics and perceptions as per the theme of the seminar.
