Statement of Iran Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on the occasion of International Quds Day

The last Friday of Ramadan is called International Quds Day.

This is the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who declared this day important for Muslim Ummah and justice-seeking nations of the world.

On this day, Muslims around the world express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the apartheid regime of Israel, that is also committing crimes against humanity through systematic oppression and institutional discrimination, inhumane acts and other abuses of fundamental right.

The day is not merely meant for the declaration of support for an oppressed people that have been driven off its land and homes but has become the symbol of opposing against Zionist arrogance and upholding the human dignity and defending undeniable right of Palestinian nation for having their statehood and identity.

International Quds Day is not limited to Muslims, as all freedom-seekers of the world participate in the rallies to support Palestinians.

They join the demonstrations to live up to the true purpose of International Quds Day and show solidarity with their oppressed brothers and sisters in Palestine.

Such unity increases the pressure on the occupying regime and will eventually force them to stop their crimes against the Palestinians.

The Zionist regime has been exploiting deteriorating regional and international situations, including normalisation of its oppression against the Palestinians.

Recent attacks by the Israeli occupying forces at the Al Aqsa Mosque since last Friday, which resulted in injuries of hundreds of Palestinians and damage to Al Aqsa mosque are continuation of Israel's inhumane, colonial and apartheid policies towards the Palestinian people, and a great insult to all Muslims.

International Quds Day calls for the unity of the Muslim ummah to support the Palestinian nation with the strong message that Palestine is and would be the number one issue of the Islamic world.
