The introductory course of Persian language and literature, which was started by the Linguistics Department of the Deccan College of Pune in collaboration with the Culture House of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai on October 2, 2022. In this course, thirty students were registered for the first step books, in online course for fifty hours. The teacher of this course was Mr. Nikhil Paranjpe, and the online classes of the course were held on the last days of the week (Saturday and Sunday) for students from different fields such as history, archeology, etc.
During this course, students were introduced to Persian calligraphy by visiting Persian inscriptions on paintings from the time of Gurkanian rule in India. The interested people were taken along with the teacher to the Maratha War Memorial, which is a memorial to the soldiers of Maharashtra state in the First World War, where they showed the war cannon belonging to the last Gorkan king named Aurangzeb, which has an inscription in Persian and Arabic on it. and read The students learned how to read and translate these inscriptions with the cooperation of the professor. After that, they went to visit the inscriptions of Haji Javad Esfahani Imambara in Pune. In this imambarah there is a beautiful mosque with inscriptions in Arabic and Persian written on the walls and the students were able to read them with the cooperation of the teacher. At the end of this visit, the students went to the "Blue Nile" restaurant, where Iranian food is cooked, and got to know Iranian cooking and delicacies.
Interested students participated in oral and written exams at the end of the course and succeeded in getting the final grade.
