Relations between the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Women’s University in Africa (WUA) continues to grow with more cooperation programmes in the pipeline.
These sentiments were reiterated yesterday (16 February 2923) by the Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of Iran, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar during a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of WUA, Professor Sunungurai Chingarande. The cordial meeting was held at the WUA head offices in Harare.
The two officials agreed to jointly host a seminar commemorating International Women’s day on the 8th March 2023.  The seminar is anticipated to draw participants from WUA as well as from the various women’s groups in Harare, including Muslims.
The seminar will be held at the university main campus on the outskirts of Harare. The Gender and Diversity Centre of Women’s University in Africa will coordinate the seminar together with the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Iran.
Mr Bakhtiyar and Professor Chingarande agreed to further cooperate in all future programmes that are meant to enhance the growth of cultural and academic exchange relations between Zimbabwe and Iran.
To mark International Women’s day, the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Iran will also mount a cultural exhibition at the University.
WUA has a working relationship with Al Zahra Women’s University of Iran. The Vice Chancellor of WUA visited Iran twice, with the latest visit happening early in early 2021.
