CULTURAL CENTRE OF THE EMBASSY OF IRAN IN JOINT CULTURAL EXHIBITION

14 October 2024 The Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Zimbabwe, last Friday (11 October 2024), hosted a large array of artists from various art genres in Harare in a joint exhibition that will probably go down in history as the largest exhibition bringing together various art forms showcasing the beauty of Zimbabwe and Iranian art.

For the art lovers who thronged the one-day exhibition held at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, it was a once in a lifetime experience, as they sampled the beauty of Iranian art as presented by Madam Pavaneh Amirian, the Founder and Director of Panian Sewing Design and Handicrafts School. She was showcasing a beautiful array of handmade and machine-made artefacts, a master piece of art designs by an Iranian master artist.

The Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Iran showcased a collection of carefully selected photographs of Iranian women who have made history in various sectors of the country, such as in aviation, engineering, medicine and in other fields perceived to be dominated by men.

Established and upcoming visual artists were also in full force as they showcased art works done with water and paint colours, as well as pencil on paper drawings. Most of the art works were mostly those of different wild animals. Other artists showcased animal artworks made from wire.

One established artist, Mr Raphael Jamu, presented a handmade portrait of President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, to Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar, the Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of Iran.

Most of the artists who took part in the exhibition implored the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Iran to host more of these exhibitions as they also facilitate in the exchange of valuable art information.

The Cultural Counsellor, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar pledged to work closely with all the artists in Zimbabwe as well as to organize similar large exhibitions as a way of enabling the Zimbabwean artists to tap into the thriving, rich and globally famous Iranian arts industry.
