The Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Zimbabwe, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar, has today the 11^th May 2023 hosted Miss Leona Muchenje, the Documentation and Research officer at the African Liberation museum located in Zimbabwe’s capital city, Harare.

Ms Muchenje was at the Cultural Centre to gather information on Zimbabwe and Iran’s pre and post-independence relations. The information would be stored at the museum for future reference.

In welcoming her, Mr Bakhtiyar acknowledged the excellent political, cultural and economic relations existing between Zimbabwe and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He said Iran and Zimbabwe’s relations fully blossomed after the attainment of Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980.

Mr Bakhtiyar noted that Iran was also ready to closely work together with the African Liberation museum in the exchange of information related to the liberation of Iran and also in the advancements that Iran made in the post Islamic revolution period.

Mr Bakhtiyar expressed his wish to visit the Liberation museum to acclimatize himself with its operations.

In response, Miss Muchenje said her museum which is still under construction, is ready to cooperate with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in information and war time memorabilia exchange.

The African liberation museum which is still under construction, is a dedication to all fallen veterans of the continent's liberation wars and is meant to document wars fought in Africa in her quest for self-governance.

Mr Bakhtiyar also took Miss Muchenje on a tour of the Cultural Centre library where she was shown the array of books, photographs, videos and handicrafts on display in the library.
