Relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Zimbabwe’s national Broadcaster, the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) continues to grow in leaps and bounds, with the head of the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of Iran in Zimbabwe, Mr Hamid Bakhtiyar, paying the Head of ZBC, Ms Adelaide Chikunguru, a visit to exchange notes on the growing relations between ZBC and Iran.
They met on Monday the 26th June 2023.
Mr Bakhtiyar was making a follow up on the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) that is set to be signed by the two statutory bodies. The signing of the MoU will further consolidate the working relationship between the two bodies in terms of content exchange, among other provisions in a development that will further develop the growing cultural relations between Zimbabwe and Iran.
Both parties agreed that there is an urgent need to speed up the signing of the Mou as well as to ensure the speedy implementation of agreed programmes once the document is signed.
Mr Bakhtiyar also presented a set of five cinematic films to Ms Chikunguru for broadcasting on Zimbabwe Television. She promised to broadcast the selected movies after going through all the internal processes to do with the certification of the films.
However, an official handover of the films will be done soon before the films are broadcast.
