Call for Collective Efforts to Stand Against Genocide in Palestine
Palestine Affiliate Organizations and Embassies in Zimbabwe have called for a collective effort to oppose the Israeli genocide in Palestine, which has resulted in over 7,000 deaths in Gaza, 70% of them being children.
Palestinians living in Zimbabwe raise placards during a solidarity march condemning Israeli attacks on Gaza which have left over 7 000 people dead. The protesters also demanded the removal of illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the West. Palestine Affiliate Organisations and embassies in Zimbabwe have called for collective efforts to stand against the Israeli genocide in Palestine, which has seen more than 7 000 killed in Gaza with 70 percent being children.
The Egyptian and Iranian embassies gathered at the Embassy of Palestine in Harare in support against the Israeli genocide and its colonial propaganda. Scores of Palestinian solidarity movements have condemned the Israeli acts of genocide and the nonchalance of the Superpowers to solve the conflict. Recently Israeli authorities bragged that it would cut electricity and block the entry of food and fuel as part of “a complete siege” on the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, Israeli forces announced a ‘three-phase war’ with Hamas.
Speaking to the media in Harare, Palestine Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Dr Tamer Almassri said the figures of killings are increasing each minute. He said that about 3,500 people, including over 1,000 children, have been killed in the last few days with power, water, food and medical supplies cut off from the Gaza population. He bemoaned the aggression against the Gaza strip saying the Israeli forces and their enablers- United States of America and most of European powers- are peddling falsehoods about the war. Dr Almassri revealed that it is not war but an act of genocide against innocent Palestinian people.
“They want us to accept Israeli occupation. The double standards and hypocrisy portrayed by Colonial powers should be castigated,” he said.
The Ambassador implored Palestinians to defend their rights and holy land. ” We will never raise a white flag,” said Dr Almassri.
In a solidarity message, Egyptian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mrs Salwa Mowafi condemned the United Nations particularly the security council for casting a blind eye on the atrocities. She added that Palestine is defending its motherland. She alleged that the superpowers are creating generations filled with hatred and disappointment against the United States of America. In that vein, she called for an immediate ceasefire and an end to all the atrocities going on in Gaza. Mr Kwanisai Mafa from the Zimbabwe Palestine Solidarity Council noted that the Council stands with the Palestinian people and their right to resist apartheid and oppression. Mafa stated that Israel has spent the past 75 years committing apartheid and genocide against the Palestinian people. ZANU PF Midlands Information Desk officer Isheanesu Marima condemned the Israeli attacks. He called the forces to order and scoffed the United States of America for siding with acts of terror.
The Chairperson of Zimbabwe Institute of Diplomacy, Mr Vova Chikanda assured that the Palestinian victory is certain. He added that these are crimes against humanity. Mr Chikanda hinted that the inaction by the United Nations will see the demise of the security council. Sheikh Henry Balakazi of the Supreme Muslim Council of Zimbabwe condemned the atrocities in Palestine. Citizens Against Economic Sanctions committee member Mr Isheanesu Marima also noted that they strongly condemn such acts of violence.
