Vice President Ensieh Khaz'ali for Women and Family Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran attended the "International Conference hosted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The conference was based on theme of Women in Islam: Status and Empowerment" in Jeddah, under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The three-day conference, was organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), with the aim to shed light on the successes of Muslim women, highlighting their role and contribution to development, and counter the negative propaganda that portrays Islamic religion as an obstacle to women obtaining their rights.
The outcome of the conference come up with a detailed plan for legal and political reforms, to promote justice and empower women in Muslim societies, and adopted a comprehensive document entitled “The Jeddah Document for Women in Islam.
Five working sessions were held during the conference, with ministers, officials, scholars and thinkers delving into the status of women and their rights in Islam, examining ways to empower Muslim women in education and work, and discussing issues related to women in contemporary societies. Within the sessions,Vice President Ensieh Khaz'ali spoke of the brutal violation of women and children's rights in Gaza.
