According to the public relations report from the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, Abdul Majid Abul Qasemi, the cultural counselor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Philippines, held discussions with Julkipli Wadi, the head of the Islamic Studies Center at the University of the Philippines, regarding potential areas of cultural cooperation between the two countries.
Julkipli Wadi, the head of the Islamic Studies Center at the University of the Philippines, mentioned the Friday prayers hosted at the center and the topics related to the World Day of Islam covered in the Friday sermon. He emphasized their commitment to taking action on these subjects in the near future and expanding cooperation with Iran's cultural consulate and other embassies representing Islamic countries, including Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.
Reflecting on his visit to Iran in 2015, he added, "During my stay in Iran, I participated in Friday prayers and observed holy ceremonies, including attending the memorable address by the Supreme Leader of the Revolution. This experience was crucial in fostering connections and initiating discussions on Islamic world issues among Shiites and followers of Ahl al-Sunnah in the Philippines."
Julkipli Wadi announced that they plan to offer an educational course titled "Revival of Islamic Thought and Contemporary Movements in the Islamic World" at the Islamic Studies Center of the University of the Philippines. With the cooperation of one of the exhibition's organizers, he successfully distributed all the copies of the book along with accompanying CDs, achieving his target.
Abul Qasimi strongly condemned the desecration of the Holy Qur'an and called for a scholarly meeting to explore various methods to prevent such actions, often carried out under the pretext of human rights and with the approval of governments.
Iran's cultural counselor in the Philippines stated, "We can condemn and protest such actions through various means, including issuing statements, publishing articles, organizing webinars, and addressing the issue in educational settings. This will help educate young people about the orchestrated efforts against the sanctity of religions."
He extended an invitation to Julkipli Wadi to participate in the "Quranic Thoughts of the Supreme Leader" conference, highlighting the continuity of the Supreme Leader's path and approach in line with Imam Khomeini's legacy.
Abul Qasemi announced the willingness of Iran's cultural consulate in the Philippines to take part in specialized meetings at the Islamic Studies Center of the University of the Philippines, including the examination of Imam Muhammad Ghazali's thoughts on social justice.
