Signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the heads of the Organization of Records and the National Library of Iran and the National Library of the Philippines
In line with the development of bilateral cultural relations and the expansion of cooperation in the fields of library, documents, science and education, a ceremony was held on Wednesday, Azar 15, 1402, equivalent to December 6, 2023, in direct and virtual communication with the National Library of our country, and the cooperation memorandum was signed by Alireza Mukhtarpour the head of Iran's National Library and Documentation Organization and Cesar Gilbert Q. Adriano, head of the National Library of the Philippines.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Abdolmajid Abolghasemi, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of I.R.Iran, who was present at the National Library of the Philippines on behalf of the National Library of our country, while greeting the heads of the libraries of the two countries and the managers present at the meeting for their cooperation and assistance in facilitating the preparations. Holding a virtual meeting for signing the memorandum of understanding on library cooperation, he thanked and expressed his gratitude and stated that in order to strengthen and promote cultural relations and introduce and properly present the culture, art and civilization of Islamic I.R.Iran, Cultural Center as a bridge of cultural communication between cultural, scientific and artistic centers the two countries provided the ground for the signing of the first memorandum of understanding between the national libraries of the two countries in 1377, which led to the establishment of the Iran Chamber in the Philippines. He expressed his hope that with the signing of this document on the eve of commemorating the 60th anniversary of diplomatic and cultural relations between Iran and the Philippines, the growing cultural cooperation will be further strengthened with the aim of increasing the knowledge of the people of the two countries about each other, and by implementing the provisions of this memorandum, useful and effective cooperation in the field of exchange of experts, manuscripts, and cultural programs and the implementation of programs of the Iran Chamber should be formed.
In the following, Cesar Gilbert Q. Adriano, the head of the National Library of the Philippines, while expressing his satisfaction with the conclusion of this memorandum, considered it important and constructive in the direction of expanding cultural relations and developing bilateral relations and cooperation between the national libraries of the two countries.
Alireza Mokhtarpour, head of the National Library and Documents Organization of Iran, while thanking the Cultural Counselor in creating the facility for signing the memorandum, stated that the best links between different communities are the links between Cultural Centers and including national libraries. He continued that if cultural and study issues in Human societies were important, today we did not witness the crimes of the Zionist regime and the killing of defenseless women and children and the destruction of the rich libraries of Palestine.
Mokhtarpour considered the national libraries of the world as cultural heritage belonging to all humanity in all eras and said: the connection between the national libraries of different countries can lead to the sharing of this cultural heritage among the researchers and scholars of the world.
In the end, he acknowledged that the activities of the National Library of the Islamic Republic of Iran in its new organized form are nearly a century old, and considered it as a place of accumulation of resources, experiences, education, research, digitization and library resources, and the readiness of the organization for announced the sharing of these experiences with the National Library and Archives of the Philippines and emphasized the operationalization of this memorandum in the shortest possible time.
It should be noted that the sharing of information and experiences and the exchange of professors and experts, the exchange of library materials, the holding of courses, workshops, exhibitions, joint research and facilities are among the clauses of this memorandum.
It should be noted that Dolores D. Karongi, Head of the Reference Department of the National Library of the Philippines, Ismat Momeni, Deputy of the National Library, Seyed Hadi Mousavi, Deputy of National Records, Mohammad Abbasi, Deputy of Development and Resource Management, Mitra Hajian, Head of the Department of Public Relations and International Affairs were present in this ceremony.
