On Friday, 19th of Mordad 1403 (August 9, 2024), Mr. Abdolmajid Abolghasemi, the Cultural Counselor of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Manila, along with his accompanying delegation, visited the Federation of International DroneSoccer Association (FIDA) exhibition held at the grand hall of the SM Mall. During the visit, he engaged in discussions and exchanged views with the Iranian participants involved in the exhibition. This exhibition is one of the B2B consumer electronics trade shows in the Philippines that continuously collaborates with technology associations, startups, leading industry professionals, investors, and government agencies to help strengthen and advance the country’s technology industry.
The World of Consumer Electronics Expo (WOCEE) 2024 highlights the latest innovations from around the globe and showcases human capabilities in supporting modern technology. At this exhibition, Dr. Mohammad Tabibi, Dr. Hossein Karimi, and Dr. Afshin Zarei, in collaboration with Filipino stakeholders, had an active presence. Over half of the exhibition space was dedicated to showcasing products in the field of robotic drones with artificial intelligence, as well as robotics competitions and educational workshops. Major industrial companies, upon visiting the products presented by Iranian expatriates, proceeded to place orders for these products. Another interesting part of the exhibition was the holding of football matches using robotic drones equipped with artificial intelligence. These spherical drones, available in various sizes, are powered by four vertical propellers and operate using rechargeable batteries and remote control. They are utilized for recreational and sports purposes. In the industrial sector, they are also used for transporting goods to various urban locations and for agricultural activities, including pesticide spraying and pest control.
According to Mr. Tabibi, this technology, whose parts are currently produced by South Korea and sent to various global markets, is currently used by 26 countries in the world and is used as a sports and recreational tool in international competitions in South Korea known as 'Torumant' (FIDA) is used and this sports game has been added to the list of available international games. Importing this small flying device in the Philippines along with connecting and assembling its parts is currently the monopoly of a number of Iranians living in the Philippines. Dr. Tabibi continued his speech and said: The entry of this device made in South Korea and its parts into Iran is currently not possible due to the economic blockade. He expressed hope that, in the future, it would be possible to import this small flying device, which has high utility in various fields, especially agriculture, into our country." It is worth mentioning that in the sports competition that was held two months ago in South Korea, the robotic drones of the Philippines, which were assembled under the supervision of the Iranians involved in the work of these devices, were to defeat the Japanese team, a strong contender in the use of these flying robots, with a score of 6 to 4."
Mr. Abolghasemi, while praising and appreciating the efforts of these Iranian innovators in the use of this micro-bird and the use of artificial intelligence, he expressed hope that their endeavors would bring honor to our beloved Iran in the field of modern science and technology, and the Cultural Center is ready as provide a communication bridge for the cooperation of these innovators with Iran's universities of technology and science and technology parks. In the following, the Cultural Counselor together with the accompanying delegation visited various parts of the exhibition and devices produced by Iranian innovators, including miniature examples of smart cranes and small robotic vehicles, and requested them to provide a report of their activities to the authorities to reflect the scientific progress of Iranians.
