Mirror and Lighting Museum
The Mirror and Lighting Museum is located in Yazd. The building was originally constructed in 1941 CE (1320 in the Iranian calendar) as a private guesthouse and was converted into a museum in 1998 CE (1377 Iranian calendar).
The historic building of the Mirror and Lighting Museum (Ghasr-e Ayineh), situated within a large garden featuring a spacious central pool, showcases a blend of traditional Persian and European architectural styles. The museum contains multiple rooms, including a Shahneshin (main hall), a Howzkhaneh (pool hall) with a stone pool at its center, and more. All rooms feature beautiful decorations, including stucco work, wall and ceiling paintings, and in some areas, mirror work. The windows are lattice-style with colored glass, and the doors are crafted from wood, adding to the building’s elegance and charm.
The museum displays a collection of old manuscripts, books, coins, stamps, weapons, and several bronze objects from Lorestan. Other items include various types of mirrors, oil lamps (floor-standing, hanging, mounted, and handheld), different kinds of candle holders (mounted and handheld), oil burners, gas lamps, electric lamps, and matches. The oldest items in the museum are oil lamps dating back to the Sassanian period.
