Iran is the third pomegranate producing country in the world

Iran's trade growth of %23 with neighbors, exports of $179 million commodities from Sistan-Baluchestan province, opening of international exhibition of agricultural industries and machinery in Urmia, the $5 billion trade prospect of Iran and Uzbekistan, expansion of Iran-China trade dealings with new strategies and Iran's third rank in production of pomegranate in the world are the latest and important economic news of the past 24 hours in the country.

Iran's trade growth of %23 with neighbors, exports of $179 million commodities from Sistan-Baluchestan province, opening of international exhibition of agricultural industries and machinery in Urmia, the $5 billion trade prospect of Iran and Uzbekistan, expansion of Iran-China trade dealings with new strategies and Iran's third rank in production of pomegranate in the world are the latest and important economic news of the past 24 hours in the country.

According to the announcement of the Iranian customs office, the Islamic Republic of Iran's non-oil trade with the neighboring countries, during the past 7 months, has amounted to $41.1 billion showing %23 increase. The weight of Iran's non-oil trade with the neighbors was 64.5 tons during the period with %16 growth. According to Pars Today, during the same period, the highest volume of Iran's trade dealings has been with the UAE, Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan and the Russian Federation.

 

$179 million of goods exported via Sistan-Baluchestan province

Mohammad Ali Khashi, Supervisor of Sistan-Baluchestan province customs, said, "1.960 million tons of goods worth $179.691 million have been exported from the customs office of this province."

Khashi added, "During this period, the exports of Sistan-Baluchestan province had %13 growth in terms of weight and %11 increase in terms of value."

According to his announcement, the major items exported from the province were clinker, cement, thermal coal, raw peas, fruits and other agricultural products.

 

Inauguration of international exhibition of agricultural industries and machinery in Urmia

The 15th international exhibition of agricultural industries, machinery, horticulture, input, greenhouse, irrigation and water supply equipment and the related equipment, including knowledge-based and innovative agricultural tools and the national tool for preservation of water, soil and life was opened on Tuesday at the permanent site of international exhibitions in the city of Urmia, northwest of Iran.

 

Prospect of $5 billion trade of Iran and Uzbekistan

Akbar Godari, head of the department of Central Asia, Caucasus and Russia of Iran Trade Promotion Organization, explaining the long-term Iran-Uzbekistan $5 billion trade, informed of the initial agreements for inking the preferential tariff treaty between the two countries.

Referring to the Iran-Uzbekistan economic agreements on the sidelines of the trip of Uzbek minister of investment, industry and trade to Iran, Godari added, "The two countries have made effort and shown inclination for expansion of trade dealings. Thus, the 16th joint commission of Iran and Uzbekistan will be hosted by Iran in March, 2025 in a bid to enhance trade dealings."

 

Expansion of Iran-China trade dealings with new strategies

Mohammad Ali Dehqan Naqavi, Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade and Director General of Iran Trade Promotion Organization, in a meeting with Zung Pi Wu, Chinese Ambassador in Tehran, considered the trade cooperation between the two countries at the highest level and added, "Iran Trade Promotion Organization is interested in expansion and growth of constructive cooperation between Iran and China."

According to Naqavi, Iran's membership in the regional treaties like BRICS and Shanghai will facilitate trade cooperation of the two countries.

 

Iran ranking third globally in production of pomegranate

Mohammad Mehdi Borumandi, Deputy for Horticultural Affairs of Iran's Agriculture Jihad Ministry, introduced Iran as the third producer of pomegranate in the world after India and China, while it ranks first in the global per capita production.
