Annual Islamic cultural Day at Vienna High School, Kabowa in Kampala.

The event interested students to express their knowledge, talents, and appreciation of living in Islamic lifestyle through activities such as Quran recitation, Quiz competition, poem, Hadith, Khutubah, Islamic dressing among others.

 

 

 

 

 

Vienna High School offers a dual curriculum both the Islamic and secular curriculum that empower the student life spiritually and academically to fit in the contemporary world. The school is located in Kabowa, a surbub of Kampala city in Rubaga Division where students are free from the city noise pollution. It was established in  2011 with over 711 students enrollment from ORDINARY LEVEL to Advanced Level.

There were 5 students that participated in the Quran Memorization; 3 female participants with no male participant.

In juzu Ammah category, there were 5 participants with four female students and one male student.

In Tafsir category, there were only two participants who competed in translating Surat Nabae in English and Luganda.

The guests were entertained with Nasheeds,and poems by female students.

The Patron of the Muslim students' Association, Mr. Kakungulu Saddam appreciated the guest of honour for accepting their invitation.

On the special note, he extended appreciation to the school management for enabling environment which allow learning and holistic education.

The school Director, Mr. Katabira Yusuf appreciated the invited guests and parents for honoring the event at Vienna High School.

She rallied participants to always seek for piety whenever they're making choices in friendship and marriage.

He informed participants to always prioritize Islam as a religion of comprehensive systems and logic that has solutions to all society challenges.

Mrs Katabira shared her school memories of Quran recitation and Quiz competition which she emphasized students to stick to learning Islamic values. She said that a woman will never fail once empowered with Islamic and secular education.

She encouraged female students to always participate in all academic activities and competition.

Students presented their theatrical play on parenting and Livelihood, where some parents neglect their children and homes which ends up in family neglect, illiteracy, poverty, no religious values.

Mr. Abdollah Abbasi, The Cultural Consular of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Uganda was the guest of honour who appreciated the school management and parents for keeping the future of Islam through enriching the young generation with Islamic values.

He delivered greetings from the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is a country based on the foundation of the holy Quran under the charismatic leadership of Imam Khomeini and the current supreme leader, Imam Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

He called on all students and staff to try all their level best to love and feel proud of our culture.

He said that culture is the total way of life that people in the society are blessed with.

He said that Culture is the characteristics of a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts.

He warned that if those pillars are not properly followed in our society, our culture will resemble a perfume with no smell. It’s a gradual existence of presenting those norms and customs to people who surround us through music, arts, crafts, food, dressing style, languages among others.

He noted that Africa is believed to be the cornerstone of culture and every year, thousands of people from all over the world visit Africa to witness the beautiful culture, history and other amazing natural phenomena which Africa is blessed with and which it cherishes, for instance the earth surface features, wild animals, water bodies as well as hospitality of the people in the continent.

As the Embassy, they shall work with the school administration in different programs that ensure proper of learning of students especially in this contemporary world where internet is full of misguiding information targeting the youth.

He extended appreciation to organizers that put in so much of their time and energy to make this event possible thank you all once again for inviting them on the great day.

Mr. Luyimbaazi Issah Katungulu, the African Youth Ambassador highlighted some of the opportunities which are offered at the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran such as education scholarships for both students and teachers at different levels, Quran Competitions, art and cultural festivals, youth dialogues and conversations among other trainings and workshops.
