This event was graced by Mr. Abdollah Abbasi the Iranian Cultural Counsellor, Members of the Diplomatic Corps including Sudan, Her worship Prossy Katushabe,The registrar of the High Court, members of the judiciary, officials from ministries and government agencies, leaders and representatives from civil society and Non-government organisations, delegates from Universities and academic institutions among others.

The Translation Unit of the Islamic University of Uganda (IUIU) affiliated with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was officially inaugurated.

It's vision isnto be a trusted hub for professional and accessible translation services to all communities, institutions and individuals.

It's mission is to bridge the linguistic and cultural gaps by delivering professional translation solutions that foster understanding, collaboration and development across Uganda and beyond

Dr. Kafeero Ibrahim Muhammad, the translation unit coordinator center of lan noted that language is more than a tool for communication it is a vessel of identity, dignity, and access. For too long, many Ugandans have been excluded from civic and public discourse simply because vital information was not available in a language they understand.

Dr. Twaha Kasule Ahmed, Director of Islamic University in Uganda Kampala Campus welcomed invited guests and participants to the mighty University. He noted that the idea of establishing Islamic University in Uganda was championed by organisation for Islamic Congress (OIC) which has 8 faculties and had 24 graduation ceremonies with students from more than 25 countries. He noted that they have 4 centers including the language translation center, postgraduate center among others.

Onbehalf of the management, he affirmed maximum support towards the centre for languages and called upon other stakeholders to bridge in with collaborations.

Hajji Kateregga Mahmoud, National coordinator of UNICEF and member of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council spoke on the role of languages in national development. He informed participants that languages empowers citizens and help in governance and public services. Language and global community bridges gaps for Diplomacy, foreign investment and market research. Language is a culture that make people feel valued in schools, courts of law, among other places.

Her worship Prossy Katushabe,The registrar of the High Court represented the Principal Judge commended the role of translation unit center in courts of law for equal justice and clarity. She quoted prophet Muhammad who said that the best among you are ones who study and teach others.

The Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran talked with the head of the Islamic translation unit center about introducing Persian language among the languages in the facility. This idea was welcomed and the process will start soon.
