Two days Teachers' Training Workshop at Al-Mustafa Islamic College
It was opened by Quran recitation by Sheikh Musa Sebulime, one of the shuyuks and hafidh Quran.
The function was graced by Dr. Khamoushi, the head of waqf and endowment from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr. Abdollah Abbasi, the Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Rouhollah Dehghani, the principal of Al-Mustafa Islamic College, Mr. Afzal from Bilal Muslim organization, teachers and religious leaders.
This workshop attracted 100 teachers from different schools in Uganda which are being supported by Shia organizations. Among the facilitators were:
- Dr. Nsimbi Isaac on the topic of competence-based curriculum
- Mr. Kiberu Amuru Lwoga on the topic of Pedagogy of teaching
- Dr. Senyonga Daudi on strategies for designing competence-based lesson plan
- Mr. Isabirye Saleh on professional development for competence-based curriculum
- Dr. Kisige Abdul on monitoring and evaluation
Whilst speaking Dr. Rouhollah Dehghani, the principal of Al-Mustafa Islamic College welcomed Dr. Khamoushi and his delegation, teachers and religious leaders.
He appreciated Mr. Abdollah Abbasi, the Iranian Cultural Counsellor for supporting the teachers training workshop which started from Thursday.
He encouraged teachers to always focus on research and equipping themselves with skills and knowledge.
Dr. Khamoushi, the head of waqf and endowment organization in the Islamic Republic of Iran noted that all prophets of God lived exemplary through exhibiting good characters in the society.
He rallied teachers to emulate the prophetic works through teaching themselves first with Islamic ethics, values and concepts before transferring them to students.
He noted that the academia should work closely with the Iranian counterparts to exchange information, expertise through educational Cooperation and exchange programs for sustainability.
He noted that Iranian companies are into trade cooperation to produce electric motorbikes in Uganda, Diary products which are to generate employment opportunities among other things.
He noted that bone implants production is yet to be done to help people who break their bones through accident.
He also mentioned that another Iranian company will be invited in Uganda to produce medical equipments which will cut costs of importation and shipping to enable Ugandans get access to all medical services.
While speaking about Palestine, He highlighted that Iran has no any problem with any country but it cannot sit back while people in Gaza are being martyred in daylight without strong condemnation and putting the oppressors to legal books.
On this note, he commended South Africa for standing strong against oppressor and filing a case in international criminal court.
He noted Muslims are brothers according to Islamic traditions.
While speaking, Mr. Abdollah Abbasi, the Cultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran congratulated the teachers who attended the two days’ workshop at Al-Mustafa Islamic College Kyengera.
He commended Dr. Khamoushi for always supporting different schools and cultural programs in Uganda whenever needs be.

He noted that workshop was aimed at teaching a diverse range of goals that extend beyond the mere transmission of information. One of the primary objectives is to facilitate understanding. Teachers strive to present complex concepts in a manner that resonates with students, promoting comprehension and critical thinking.
The most important things about schools are the people in them. That includes the students, the parents and of course all the members of staff. With regard to giving our students the best possible education and learning opportunities, this falls to those colleagues who play the crucial role of teaching.
He said that a teacher is a lifelong learner. The teaching fraternity has to keep abreast with the ever-changing technology and the mindset of the students.
These two days which were devoted entirely to sharing the outstanding work that goes on here and enabling all teachers to learn new strategies and skills which can help them in the future. All our teachers work collaboratively to undertake research into an academic area of their choice and then present their outcomes to colleagues.
It is widely acknowledged that teachers have the greatest impact on a student’s education, both in terms of educational progress and in terms of inspiring them towards achieving their dreams. The outcomes from these two days of our Learning Symposium will help drive the school and all teachers to take education to even greater heights.
He hoped and prayed that the fruits of this workshop help the teachers to achieve their noble goal and mission during their professional journey by creating sharp minds that are needed for the development of Uganda.
