Ugandans marked Eidul al-Ghadiir at Imam Reza School, Wakiso District
The ceremony was opened by Quran recitation from students in Imam Reza School.
About 900 participants including students from Imam Reza School, Al-Mustafa Islamic College, Ameer Momineen School, Imam Sadiq school attended this year's Eidul al-Ghadiir organized by the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran at Imam Ridha Islamic school.
Among the shuyuks present was Prof. Adam Ssebyala, Sheikh Bashir Gubiri Kayongo, sheikh Hassan Mayambala, Sheikh Hussein Buye, Sheikh Hussein Habyarimana, Sheikh Muzamir Ssekimwanyi,the District Kadhi, Sheikh Munir Ali Kinyenya, Sheikh Arabi Mahmoud, the director of Amir Momenin school, Sheikh Shiaib Kayiwa, Sheikh Muhammad Mukasa Serutegga among others.
Sheikh Hussein Habyarimana welcomed invited guests on behalf of Imam Reza School and recognised Sheikh Bashir Gubiri, the Director of Imam Reza School which has dual curriculum including theology and secular studies.
On speaking about Eidul al-Ghadiir, he said that it started on 24th of Dhulhijja as Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was coming from his last pilgrimage, he received revelation from almighty Allah and gathered thousands of Muslims to proclaim his successor, Imam Ali Ibn Abi Talib (a.s).
Prof. Adam Ssebyala Al-Maliky noted that Eidul al-Ghadiir is the day Muslims celebrate in their lives to remember its importance of declaration of the successor. He noted that the prophet of mercy by declaration at Ghadir khum.
After alot of suffering, passing through bitter and good experiences appoint a successor.... he quoted a verse from the Holy Quran.
He quoted Mr. George Benard Shaw who said that Islam is religion best religion but all religions that have followers, Muslims are the worst of them because they're the enemies of their religion.
He warned that Muslims failed to understand the holy Quran which is their scripture.
Had we obeyed the will of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) we would be like we're today. A will is our dying wish which should be implemented but not torn it apart for selfish interests.
He stressed that there's nothing that has made Muslims fight each other like leadership which the prophet wanted to solve through Eidul al-Ghadiir.
Sheikh Hassan Mayambala, the director of Sabar Islamic Daawa Group mentioned some verses in the holy Quran about Eidul al-Ghadiir.
He rallied Muslims to make more research about the history of Islamic and Muslim civilization to bring insights and pure traditions.
Sheikh Muhammad Mukasa Serutegga, the head of Islamic Culture department at Al-Mustafa Islamic College spoke about the history of Muslims during the last days with prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Sheikh Muzamir Mwanje Ssekimwanyi,the District Kadhi thanked almighty Allah for enabling him to be part of the celebrations of the great day and event of succession plan.
He rallied participants to always be knowledgeable to bring insight to the society. If you can't be a scholar, be a student and always take exemplary characters of great personalities in Islam especially the households of prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
He thanked the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the cooperation in such educative programs that inspire the Muslim faithfuls.
