Tang-e Boraq of Eqlid

Being located in a mountainous area, Eqlid has many natural attractions. There are many rivers and reservoirs in this city, and its green landscapes host many nature lovers every year. Tang-e Boraq is one of the most famous and spectacular valleys of Eqlid, which is located in a village with the same name. In the hot weather of Fars during summer, this place hosts many tourists and nature lovers.

Where is Eqlid Located?

Situated in the northern part of Fars Province and the foothills of the Zagros Mountains, Eqlid is about 2300 meters above sea level, which makes it the sixth-highest city in Iran. With a population of about 100 thousand people has a cold and dry climate, the maximum and minimum annual temperatures of Eqlid stand at 37 and minus 22 degrees Celsius.

Features of Tang-e Boraq

The water that flows from Palangan forms a river called Kor after passing through the rocks. There are several caves, waterfalls, and natural ponds in the basin of this river, which create attractive natural scenes. The passage of water through the cracks where the height of the rocks reaches 100 meters is one of the most beautiful views of this river.

Tang-e Boraq is located on the basin of this river. Its height is 1940 meters above sea level and its walls in some parts are 300 meters high.

Tang-e Boraq Cave

There is a limestone cave on the left wall of Tang-e Boraq Valley where the constant dripping of water from its roof has created stalagmites. The humid atmosphere of this cave has turned its walls and floor into a suitable place for moss to grow.

Tang-e Boraq Waterfall

A waterfall with a height of nearly 40 meters is another sightseeing place of Tang-e Boraq, which flows into a pond. In the summer, this pond is used as a swimming place for locals and tourists.

Mulla Sadra Dam Lake

Located at a short distance from Tang-e Boraq, Mulla Sadra Dam is 72 meters above the bed of the Kor River. The length of its crown is 630 meters and its width is 10 meters. The lake behind Mulla Sadra Dam can hold up to 400 million cubic meters of water. A power plant has been installed in the downstream of this dam, which has the capacity to produce 100 megawatts of electricity. A large part of the region’s lands, especially 11 thousand hectares of almond lands in the sloping areas around the dam, is irrigated with its water. Milla Sadra Dam is one of the most important sources of drinking and industrial water supply of Shiraz.

Tang-e Boraq Inscription

There is a stone inscription in Tang Baraq village, which was inscribed on the list of Iran’s national heritage in 1997. The writings of this large standing stone inscription with a diameter of two meters are written in the Pahlavi language and show that the Sassanid king, Shapur, used to spend his free time in this place. The inscription also contains some information about Shapur’s shooting skills.

Where Is Tang-e Boraq Located?

Tang-e Boraq is located 190 km from Shiraz and 80 km west of Eqlid. Sedeh city is the closest city to Tang-e Boraq and it is 20 kilometers away from it. Tang-e Boraq Village is also located in the same area. According to historical sources, this place was chosen as a permanent settlement by a person named Asgar Khan in 1862 and was then turned into a village. The people of this village speak Turkish and Lori languages.

 

 

With its pristine views, Tang-e Boraq of Sedeh is considered one of the most beautiful natural attractions of Eqlid city.
