In Iran, the 28th of Safar, the second month of the lunar Hijri calendar, is a deeply significant day of mourning for Muslims. It is marked by rich observances and cultural practices that vary across different regions of the country.This date marks the anniversary of the passing of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the martyrdom of Imam Hassan (AS), the second Shia Imam.

Iranian artist Hassan Ruholamin has created a new artwork beside the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and his brother Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala, to commemorate Arbaeen. Ruholamin’s latest painting, completed in the sacred atmosphere of Karbala during the preparations for Arbaeen pilgrimage, captures the perspective of Hazrat Zainab (SA), Imam Hussein's sister, regarding the events of Ashura and the Battle of Karbala, Mehr reported on Sunday.

The first international event dedicated to Arbaeen heritage took place in Tehran, bringing together scholars, researchers, and experts to explore the cultural and historical significance of the religious occasion which marks the culmination of 40 days of mourning for Imam Hussain (AS), the third Shia Imam.
