Dr. Joshua Kitakule, the Secretary General of Interreligious Council of Uganda welcomed the Iranian Cultural Counsellor at Mengo whom he thanked for the courtesy visit.

He condoled with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran upon martyrdom of the late president Ebrahim who was a great unifier for all religious denominations and noted that Ugandan president is excited about Iran's interest in interreligious unity and harmony which emphasize peaceful coexistence in societies.

He noted that the archbishop of Uganda, Dr. Kazimba Mugalu was suddened by the news of passing of President Ebrahim Raeisi whom he had requested for support during his state visit in Uganda at National Mosque, old Kampala.

They are happy to hear that Iran is organizing an activity to bring all religious leaders to remember President Ebrahim Raeisi and his ideas preferably in September this year.

Dr. Kitakule invited the Iranian diplomats to participate in the 1st interreligious family festival on 28th June 2024 at Kololo independence Grounds in Kampala which is organised on the theme: "Celebrating Family, Faith, Freedom, and one Family under God for African Renaissance "

The festival is organised to celebrate the institution of family, the virtue of living for greater good and human interconnectedness while promoting a culture of Ubuntu, service, tolerance, and respect for human dignity and nature.

 

The delegation was composed of Hon. Issah Katungulu Luyimbaazi, The African Youth Ambassador, Sheikh Yusuf Zubair Serunjogi, John Osapiri,Manager for legal, policy advocacy and East African Community Affairs of Interreligious Council of Uganda.
