Courtesy Visit at UBC Radio and Television Uganda
On Monday, Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran can visit UBC Radio and TV Uganda. At the beginning of this visit, Mr. Wilfred Senyange; UBC Radio and Television Public Relations Director, while welcoming accompanied the cultural advisor of Iran to visit various departments of radio and television program preparation and production and provided the necessary explanations in this regard.
He also presented a report on the history of the establishment and programs of this radio and television and said: "UBC Radio was established in 1954 and UBC TV was established in 1963. Part of the equipment in this radio and television was provided by the Japanese government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This TV program is prepared, produced and broadcast in English and Luganda according to the different ages of the Ugandan community There has always been an effort to build projects
He added: "UBC Radio has 11 radio stations and prepares, produces and broadcasts programs in 27 different languages, including: English, Luganda, Swahili, etc. Also, UBC Radio and Television in cooperation with Russia Today news agency (RT) prepares and broadcasts regional and international news.
Following this visit, the cultural advisor of embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran participated in a meeting with the presence of some senior officials of UBC radio and television and the parties discussed various fields of joint cooperation. In this meeting, which was managed Mr. Kisitu Anex, the cooperation Secretary of UBC, Mr. Ssenyange Wilfred the Public Relations Officer, Mrs Ndeezi Doreen, the manager for radios, Mr. Felista Bakendaki, Human resources manager, Mr. Latim Emmanuel, the Finance manager, Miss Agnes Kobusingye, the Management Accountant, Miss Jackie Kabahenda, the chief accountant and Ibrahim Mugwanya, the Manager for Star TV and Radio.
Mrs Ndeezi Doreen noted that Uganda has 52 tribes and languages which they broadcast in with much emphasis on culture.
She appreciated the friendly relations they have enjoyed with the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Quran Competitions, arts and cultural festivals.
She requested for education scholarships for UBC journalists to enhance training and development in production, technology, Accountancy and research.
She picked interest in the coming inter religious dialogue so that the message reaches all ordinary Ugandans in different languages to give the dialogue a milage.
She suggested if the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran can have weekly 30 minutes of understanding Quran.
She also requested media Cultural exchange with Ugandan journalists to record and broadcast back home about the Iranian culture, business, technology.
They used to receive hampers from the Iran embassy which they appreciate with their hearts.
She invited the Iran Embassy to the 70th anniversary celebrations for participation and support in December 2024.Pointing to the existence of friendly relations and thanks for the past support of the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Quranic competitions as well as artistic and cultural festivals of UBC radio and television, he requested the following items from the Cultural Consultancy of our country:
Continuation of the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran and increasing the level of joint cultural and artistic cooperation
- Granting a number of scholarships for UBC radio and television journalists in related fields to continue their university studies in Iran in order to improve their scientific level.
- Expressing interest in producing programs on interfaith dialogue so that the message of interfaith unity can be sent to all Ugandans in different languages.
Unity among religions should be sent in different languages and to all people of Uganda.
- The support of the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran for the holding of the Holy Quran competitions on UBC radio and television
- Sending a number of UBC radio and television journalists to the Republic of Iran to participate in educational workshops and visit Iran, and after their return, they will spread the culture and civilization of Iran, as well as Iran's scientific capacities and abilities.
- Invitation to the cultural consultation of our country to support and participate in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of UBC Radio in December of this year.
Then, the Iran cultural counsellor, while appreciating and thanking the UBC radio and television officials for their warm hospitality, explained some of the cultural activities carried out by the cultural consultant of J.A. Iran in Uganda, as well as some of the ongoing programs.
Referring to some of the activities of Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in broadcasting Organization in the country, the existence of provincial and national networks along with the production and broadcasting of diverse and specialized programs is an important step towards enlightening public opinion and awareness. He read a public section at the community level.
The cultural adviser called the sending of 70 Ugandan scholarship students to Iran last year to study at bachelor's and master's degrees in various scientific and academic fields as an effective step in the direction of increasing the level of scientific and cultural interactions between the two countries and praised his efforts. He emphasized the continuation of the process of sending scholarship students to Iran.
He also expressed his hope that UBC radio and television will have an effective cooperation in the future cultural programs of the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran can.
