Uganda marked the 45th anniversary of the glorious victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran at Four Points Hotel, Kololo

 


This event attracted members of the diplomatic corps, high commissioners, representatives from international organizations accredited to the Republic of Uganda, heads of institutions of higher learning, religious and opinion leaders, media partners among others.

Uganda was represented by Hon. Henry Okello Oryem, the minister of state for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Jacob Maxon Oboth, State Minister for Defense, Hon. Hajat Minsa Kabanda, the cabinet Minister for Kampala Capital City and metropolitan affairs among others.

 

Invited guests were entertained by numerous achievements showed in the Video presentation about Iran

 

Mr. Issah Katungulu Luyimbaazi, the African Youth Ambassador and the event’s moderator gave background information about the registered achievements of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in the field of Science, Technology, Women in development.

 

H.E. Mr. Majid Saffari, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran called for shedding light about what is happening in Palestine and thanked the government of South Africa for supporting Palestinian people and standing strongly against oppressors.

He noted that Iran's reliance on internal capabilities has been able to achieve in the last 45 years such as establishing a desired system of governance, international innovations, Gender disparity in education, engineering, aerospace, astronomy, pharmacology, Biomedical technology, nuclear technology, satellite industry.

 

“Our achievements in science and technology, which have put us in the 16th place among more than 200 countries in the world, have surprised world observers, and in some sensitive and new fields has promoted us to the first ranks - happened while the country was under financial and scientific sanctions. In spite of having to swim against the tide made by the enemy, we have made great records, and this is a great blessing, for which one needs to thank God Day and night.

 

To conclude, after 45 years of the Islamic Revolution, Iran has consolidated itself both domestically and regionally by developing itself into a dominant regional power.

 

Domestically, Iranians remain committed to the basic objectives of the revolution – independence, freedom, and the Islamic Republic. Overall, Iran stands much stronger than it did before the revolution with its military and social capacity to defend itself from future foreign aggression and protect the Islamic Revolution.

 

The way the Islamic Republic of Iran has progressed in the last 45 years, often passing through numerous twists and turns, conforms to its national resilience to hold on to the revolution, project an independent voice in world affairs, and expand its influence in regional and global affairs.

 

As admitted by friends and foes alike, the Islamic Republic of Iran has attained amazing success in various scientific fields for more than 45 years, in spite of many obstacles, including anti-human sanctions. And despite various ups and downs that are unavoidably faced by all freedom fighters, Islamic Iran already emerged as a great power in the world scene.

 

Hon. Jacob Maxon Oboth, State Minister for Defense who represented Minister of Foreign Affairs recognized members of the diplomatic Corps, High commissioners, Heads of international organizations among invited guests.

He said that Iranian people have sovereignty to defend their country as its UN declaration.

He noted that Iran and Uganda enjoy diplomatic relations which are visible in exchange visits of Heads of state, ministers and other cooperations in joint commissions.

He thanked the government of Iran for construction of Iran Uganda Hospital in Naguru.

He called Iranian investors to explore Uganda's tourist attractions and invest in different areas of interest.

He noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran participated fully with high-ranking delegation in the 19th Summit which was conducted in the capital of Uganda, Kampala at the 18th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit. The summit took place between 15th and 20th January 2024 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

 

The cutting of the cake was led by dean of Ambassadors and the current Eritrean Ambassador to Uganda, Iranian Ambassador, state minister of foreign affairs, other distinguished ministers who were present.
