In an initiative taken by Cultural Counselor and the Director Persian Research Center, of Iran Culture House - New Delhi on Friday 19th of July, 31 students from Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi have visited Reza Rampur Library and got acquainted with this library and its Persian and Arabic manuscripts.

In this visit, Dr. Pushkar Misra, Director Reza Library, while welcoming, described Reza Library as the place where legacy of different Cultures and languages ​​are being welcomed & preserved.

He described the treasure of Persian manuscripts of the library as very valuable academic asset, which is very useful for today's India and students of Persian language and literature.

Dr. Fariduddin Faridasr, Cultural Counselor of Iran in New Delhi was another speaker in Delhi. He considered the ties between the libraries of the countries to be very important and explained the cultural capacities of the National Library of Iran and announced his keenness to sign an MoU between the National Library of Iran and the Reza Library Rampur.

Qahraman Soleimani, Director, Persian Research Center, New Delhi also said in this ceremony: Among the resources available in the library, the contribution of the Persian language and Iranian culture is very prominent, which can be a valuable tool for the development of relations between the two countries and cooperation.

At the end of this meeting, Abu Saad Islahi, the head of the library's manuscripts section, introduced the important Persian and Arabic sources in the library. At the end, the students visited different sections of the library.

Rampur Raza library was established in the last decades of the 18th century in the Indian city of Rampur by the Nawab Rampur. Now this library is one of the most important centers for keeping manuscripts in India. More than 15 thousand manuscripts are being preserved in this library, more than two-thirds of that are in Arabic and Persian languages. Some copies of this library have special fame and prestige in the world.
