Nakhiloo Island

Nakhiloo Island is located within the vicinity of Deyr County (Bushehr Province) in the Persian Gulf. The origin of this uninhabited island, which is located at an altitude of one and a half meters above sea level, is oyster-coral. This island is almost oval in shape and covered with halophyte (salt-tolerant plants). The island is home to a variety of large and small swallows, and a kind of crab-eater lark.

Nakhiloo Island is home to Persian Gulf tortoises and turtles and is one of the rarest islands in the world and the most unique island in the Middle East for the reproduction of migratory seabirds. Nakhiloo Island is also home to a small accumulation of mangrove forests. Mangrove is a beautiful and evergreen plant that can survive in seawater and provides a suitable place for the oviparity of fish and marine mollusks.
