Funeral Prayer in Absentia Held for the Martyred Leader of the Ummah, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei

On Sunday, 5 July 2026, a funeral prayer in absentia for the martyred leader of the Ummah, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, was held in Valaichchenai, Sri Lanka, through the coordination of the Cultural Counsellorship of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Following the prayer, Mawlavi Imam Othman Mohamed Mazamil highlighted the late leader's global influence, his commitment to Islamic unity, and his enduring legacy of faith, justice, resistance, and service to humanity. The ceremony reflected the deep respect of participants and reaffirmed the values and principles associated with his leadership

 

Following the coordination and arrangements made by the Cultural Counsellorship of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sri Lanka, a funeral prayer in absentia was held on Sunday, 5 July 2026, in the city of Valaichchenai, simultaneously with the funeral prayer conducted in the Islamic Republic of Iran for the martyred leader of the Ummah, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

After leading the prayer, Mawlavi Imam Othman Mohamed Mazamil addressed the congregation, describing Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as an eminent spiritual and political leader whose influence extended across the Muslim world and beyond. He stated that the late leader played a significant role in strengthening solidarity among different Islamic schools of thought and that the unity of the Islamic Ummah remained one of his foremost concerns. He added that the martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei had brought profound sorrow to Muslims around the world and noted that his funeral ceremony was both historic and magnificent. Millions of mourners, religious scholars, and political leaders from across the globe participated in the ceremony, demonstrating not only their deep respect for the late leader but also the lasting impact of his leadership, spirituality, and dedication to his people and the wider Muslim community.

Mawlavi Imam Othman Mohamed Mazamil further stated that throughout his life Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei consistently emphasized the values of faith, self-sacrifice, resistance, justice, and service to humanity. The remarkable public participation in the farewell ceremonies, he noted, reflected the profound bond between the late leader and the people, as well as the enduring legacy he leaves behind.
