PRESS STATEMENT ON THE RECENT BURNING OF THE HOLY QUR’AN IN STOCKHOLM.

Fatima Zahra (as) Women’s Organisation unreservedly condemns and denounces the recent burning of the Holy Qur’an in Stockholm. This vile action is unacceptable, and should be condemned in the strongest terms possible by all those who cherish world justice and peace. Permitting this anti-Islam act, which targets more than two billion Muslims and insulting sacred values, under the guise of ‘freedom of expression’ is completely unacceptable.

The Fatima Zahra (as) upholds the total dismissal of all forms of hate speech or action based on religion or race. In this context the Fatima Zahra (as) women’s organization calls on UN to shoulder its responsibility by rejecting this incitement of violence and injury to the feelings of the global Muslim community towards the sacred book of Islam.

As we fully support the cherished values of dialogue, tolerance and peaceful co-existence, we strongly condemn those who perpetrate and condone the vile attack the Holy Qur'an. We condemn this religious exclusivism and extremism which is the pinnacle of hate crime.
