A Two day Cultural Festivals of Nowroz held in Iran Culture House, New Delhi
Nowruz Festival 2023 was held by the Embassy of I. R. Iran and Iran Culture House, New Delhi with the Embassy of Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan in collaboration with CD Foundation and supported by ICME, Spice Board of India and few other institutions on 19th and 20th March 2023 at Iran Culture House, New Delhi.
Nowruz Festival 2023 was held by the Embassy of I. R. The inauguration was attended by Mr. Kumar Tuhin, the Director General of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations Gov of India, Mr. J.P. Singh, Joint Secretary Ministry of External Affair Govt. of India, Ambassadors and Diplomats of Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Dr. Sandeep Marwa, President of ICMEI and Head of Film Studio and Media Noida and several other cultural and political personalities of India.
In the opening ceremony Dr. Mohd Ali Rabbani, the Cultural Counselor of I.R.Iran, welcomed all guests & dignitaries and mentioned Nowruz as a common culture among the regional and traditional nations that originated from the mythological era, which is celebrated in the form of rituals and customs by different peoples in different countries. He added that the Nowruz celebration and ritual is one of the important cultural symbols among the nations of the Nowruz.
Dr. Iraj Elahi, the Hon’ble Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to India, while explaining the history of Nowruz, pointed to the common traditions of Nowruz and theHaft Sinof Nowruz and said: Nowruz is a cultural link between the countries of the world, which shows the depth of the cultural traditions of Persian-speaking countries and other countries. He also referred to the historical and cultural commonalities between Iran and India and emphasized the contribution and role of culture and cultural commonalities in facilitating and continuing political and economic relations between the two countries.
Mr. Farid Mamunzai, the Ambassador of Afghanistan, while congratulating the audiences, called Nowruz the spring of nature and added: on this blessed day, which is the common tradition of the people of the region, we must cleanse our hearts and prepare ourselves for hope and light.
Mr. Kumar Tuhin, Director General of Indian Council for Cultural Relations called Nowruz a great and long-standing traditional festival, which the people of India have been familiar with for a long time. He considered the traditions and celebrations as suitable platforms for the empathy and cooperation of the nations of the region and considered it an opportunity that people-to-people relations can be expanded along with the relations between the governments.
Dr. Sandeep Marwah, the head of Marwah Film & Media Institute and Mrs. Charudas, the head of CD Foundation, were the other speakers of the function, who spoke about the importance and potential of Nowruz in regional cultural interactions. In the continuation of the Nowruz festival, along with the artistic performance of some musical groups, the officials of the company in this ceremony, visited different sections and stalls of Iran and other countries. Performances by music groups from Iran, Afghanistan, India, poetry reading, presentation, traditional shows by Sikhs, calligraphy workshop and other were the past of the Nowruz events.
On the second day of this festival, a meeting was held on the topic of examining the contribution of young people in the continuation and development of cultural traditions, during which Mr. Dr. Sandeep Marwah, Dr. Rabbani the Cultural Counselor, Mr. Hosseini, Charge De’ Affairs of the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in New Delhi, Mrs. Charudas, President of CD Foundation, and Mrs. Dr. Mostofi, one of the Iranians living in India, gave a speech. In this festival, in addition to the stall for the supply of cultural goods, an exhibition was held with the presentation of 120 pieces of photos introducing Nowruz traditions in Iran and other countries. The publication of “Cultural Glimpses” as special issue on Nowruz in English was one of the other activities carried out in this festival. The presence of students and resident Iranians as well as Sikhs and Afghan immigrants in this program was worth-seen.
