Tourist Attractions of Forg District
Narenjestan Historical Complex
One of the most important historical sites of the Forg district is the “Naranjastan” Historical Complex, which consists of the Sassanid hill, a castle, and a mosque. The castle of this complex belongs to the late Islamic era and is located in the northern part of the hill. The mosque has been built at a distance of 50 meters from the hill and based on the architecture of its nave, its construction dates back to the more recent Islamic centuries.
The Sasanian hill of this complex has an almost circular structure with a diameter of nearly 60 meters. The height of this hill from the surrounding area is about 4.5 meters. The remains of a governor’s seat, called “Narenj Castle”, can be seen on top of this hill.
The beautiful vaulting and the domed roof of this castle, which is made with plaster mortar, and two semi-round towers next to the entrance, are the main features of this building. To build the castle, the ground had been dug for three meters and rubbles were used to lay the foundations of the walls. The bricks used in the building are five centimeters thick and its gate opens to the north.
The columns of the shabestan of the mosque that can be seen in the northwest part of it have a square base of 110 cm and are located in a row. The available evidence shows that the courtyard of this mosque was paved with stone slabs. The thickness of the walls of the mosque, which were made of mud and brick, was 80 cm.
This complex was inscribed on the list of Iran’s national heritage in 2008.
The Mausoleum of Imamzadeh Sheikh Mohammad
There is a 400-year-old building between the two villages of Nasir Abad and Mohammad Abad, on a low rocky slope, which is made of rubble stone and plaster and is believed to be a mausoleum. Although no information is available about the identity of the person or persons buried in this building, the local people consider it to be the tomb of a person named “Sheikh Muhammad”. This building was inscribed on the list of Iran’s national heritage in 2006.
The Black Hill of Forg
This prehistoric hill, which is located in the west of the “Do Borji” city, the capital of the Forg district, was inscribed on the list of Iran’s national heritage in 2003.

Aquarium Valley is one of the natural and historical attractions of the Forg District, which houses several ancient villages and because of its spectacular scenery hosts many tourists and nature lovers every year. This valley is located at an altitude of 1330 meters above sea level. Some people also know this place as “Kaseh Rud” (lit. Bowl River).
There is a river in the middle of the valley, which is known as “Kaseh Rud” and five beautiful waterfalls pour their water into this river.
Fadami Waterfall
There is a beautiful waterfall some eight km northwest of the Fadami City of the Forg district, which is known by the same name. This waterfall is located at a distance of 135 km from Darab City and on the border of Fars province and Hormozgan province. The location of this waterfall in the heart of a hot and dry area and a height of 900 meters above sea level has made the scenery around it very spectacular and unique. One of the wonders of the Fadami waterfall is that its different branches, which join together in the basin below and form a permanent river, have salty and sweet, and hot and cold water. The water of this river is used to supply drinking water to Fadami City and irrigate two thousand hectares of groves. The different branches of the waterfall are 12 to 20 meters high.
